San Francisco Custom Cabinets

Custom cabinets for San Francisco kitchens.

SF homes don't fit standard cabinetry. Victorians and Edwardians come with narrow galley layouts, ceiling heights that swing room to room, and floor plans laid out before refrigerators existed.

Built for SF Homes

Cabinetry that works around what San Francisco gives you.

San Francisco's housing stock is a mix that doesn't match any standard cabinet line. Many Victorians and Edwardians started with narrow galley kitchens — originally functional sculleries, never designed for modern appliances or two cooks at once. Walls turn into themselves. Ceiling heights jump from eight feet to twelve in the same house. Original gas lines are locked into specific walls, and load-bearing structure shows up where the plans don't show it.

Modern flats and condos come with a different set of constraints: tight building envelopes, HOA rules on what can change, and floor plans that prioritized resale efficiency over how anyone actually cooks.

Custom dimensions are what makes any of these kitchens work. Standard sizes leave filler strips, awkward corners, and shallow cabinets that can't hold what you'd put in them. We build to the room you actually have — heights matched to your ceiling, depths matched to your wall, widths drawn around the obstructions you can't move. Custom cabinetry built right can recover up to 25% of usable space in older SF kitchens that previously felt unworkable.

Delivery & Install

From Milpitas to your SF kitchen.

Our factory is about 45 minutes from San Francisco in normal traffic. The drive is the easy part. The harder logistics are usually the last hundred feet: narrow staircases up to flats, shared building entries, parking that requires a street-space permit during loading, and double-park restrictions that shape what time of day delivery can happen.

We've done this enough times to know how each neighborhood differs. Pacific Heights and Russian Hill mean parking permits and stair-carry coordination. Noe Valley and Bernal means narrow streets and one-shot delivery windows. SoMa and Mission Bay condos mean freight elevators, building manager scheduling, and HOA-approved install hours.

We coordinate the delivery details with your contractor before the boxes leave Milpitas — so the cabinets arrive when the kitchen is ready for them, not three days early stacked in a hallway.

Why Local Matters in SF

When the wall is 119 years old, having the manufacturer 45 minutes away changes the project.

Older SF homes throw surprises during install. A wall isn't actually plumb. A structural member shows up where the plans showed empty space. A century-old lath-and-plaster wall doesn't accept screws the way drywall does. The questions that come up mid-install — "can we shim this?", "do we need to re-drill the panel?", "is there a different toe-kick height that works here?" — those are easier to answer when the manufacturer is in the same time zone, the same morning.

We've sent team members to SF the next morning to handle issues that would otherwise stall a remodel for weeks waiting on parts shipped from out of state. That's not a feature you market. It's the difference between a project that ships on schedule and one that doesn't.

Built by Our Team

The same people, every project.

Every Dodi cabinet is built by the team in the photo. Same designers, same fabricators, same finishers — for an SF Victorian, a Pacific Heights flat, or a SoMa condo. When you call about a project, you're talking to the people who'll actually be making your kitchen.

That isn't the standard model in this industry. Most custom cabinet sales involve a sales rep, a separate fabrication facility (often out of state), and a third-party installer — each with its own scheduling, accountability, and version of the truth. Dodi runs design, fabrication, and project management out of one building.
